A wasp - piece by piece

With it being the middle of winter, the few bugs around are very sluggigh and tend to stay put. This affords a person a perfect time to take real close-ups of them. This paper wasp was a good subject.
The face.
The abdomen.
The thorax.
The wing.
The strange shaped eye.
The legs.

Cześć Andrzej. Gdzie byłaś? I missed you! :) Mam nadzieję, że miał wielkie święto. I poszedł do witryny za chwilę temu, ale to nie dla mnie zdjęcia. I will try again later.

Cieszę się, że jesteś z powrotem. :)

Hey~! I haven't been around PTA for the past few days so I couldn't comment on your blog. Thanks for the comments on mine :O)

Those animals in the Hartebeesport Dam zoo are so cute - especially the meerkats and the jackal.

Erm...the wasp looks scary.

Hello Sreddy. So where where were you galavanting around? You are supposed to be studying. :)

Actually the wasp was quite cute and was crawling long on my finger while I was trying to get pictures of it. :)

The zoo is nice. Do you go there?

I haven't been in anywhere near Hartebeespoort Dam for about seven years. LOL, studying is for another day - it's holidays now~! :O)

You will soon see where I was if you visit my blog in a few days time.

Okay Sreddy, that sounds very interesting. I will keep watch to see when you post something new. :)

I keep on forgetting that it is holidays. LOL!!

Joan: Beautiful close-ups of a neat critter. You really got into the detail.

Thanks Tom. I had a most co-operative subject. :)

Amazing capture and details.

I'm glad this wasp was slow so you wouldn't get stung. Those wings look like celephane. Is an odd shaped eye. Great captures.

I miss MM.

AWESOME!

Love this series. These are great shots Joan. But why did you make him out of paper? Clay was working so good for you! LOL

You're the best!

Thanks Shantana. It is not a problem. I do the same thing sometimes when the internet is so so. I just deleted them. :)

SAPhotographs (Joan) said...

Thanks Gaelyn. He was very sluggish and was crawling around on my finger for a while. I have never seen eyes shaped like that.

SAPhotographs (Joan) said...

Thanks Craig. :) I cannot make them out of clay everytime. Variety is the spice of life remember. LOL!!

I can see that this wasp is very much alive, you are very lucky not to have got stung given the closeness of these shots.

Hello Thomas. Most of these insects will only bite and sting if you hurt them. :)

What macros and detail...I love to see insects up close and personal...

Thank you Michelle. It is still by far my favorite subject to photograph. :) A fascinating world.

Nice shooting, Joan. The bug eyes have me perplexed as to how they work.

Wow...those are incredible close-ups! I really dislike wasps and have been stung too many times to want to get very close. However, seeing them through your photographs is great.

I did post a red colored wasp but not quite this close up. This was a good macro job. I would have to use some magnifying glass maybe 2x or 4x.

Thank you very much for visiting my Brookville Daily Photo blog and for the comment you left me there.

Thanks Steve. They have compound eyes so I guess it does not matter too much what shape they are in. :)

SAPhotographs (Joan) said...

Thanks Mary. Being stung is no fun at all so I do not blame you for staying far away from them. :)

SAPhotographs (Joan) said...

You are welcome Abe. It is not everyday one gets to celebrate like that. :) Some of these were taken with my P&S and others with the macro lens.
