About Me
- SAPhotographs (Joan)
- My name is Joan and I have lived and worked in the African bush for more than 20 years so I am definitely not a "city girl". My hobbies and interest are anything to do with the outdoors especially photography. At the end of last year I was introduced to macro photography and have discovered a whole new world. I have traveled a lot and love chatting to people, so I correspond with people all over the world. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions you may have: macromail2 at vodamail dot co dot za. Thanks for visiting my blog. :)

Some bugs will do anything in order to look like a twig. Nice shots!
LOL!! Great comment Marvin. Thanks.
Nice shots!
Thanks Shantana. :)
Joan: I have seen walking sticks but never a stick grasshopper, what a treat.
You are so wlecome my friend Tom. Glad I could show your something different. :)
LOL- the last photo looks as if the bug is holding onto the long brown twig. Lovely shots~!
Sreddy
PS: I posted my story on my blog if you want to visit.
LOL!! You are right Sreddy it does. :) I will go and see your post now. :)
Steven Spielberg called, he wants his bug back!
Where do you find these crazy critters! I have never seen anything like that!
LOL
Amazing stuff as usuall, Joan.
Craig
Oh oh!! NOW I'm in trouble!! Did you tell him I skipped the country? LOL!!
Thanks Craig. They are strange aren't they. Something like me. LOL!!
looks like garden shears!
The variety of your grasshoppers never ceases to amaze me.
LOL!! A good way to describe it Ken. Thanks for visiting again. :)
They are amazing but your dragonfly is still the best. Simply outstanding Steve.
A most unusual grasshopper. Looks like it crossed with a bird. Do they make any noise when they fly so you know they're coming? A bug that big could almost knock you over. Very cool.
Thank you Joan for your comments.
Good photos.
This year the level of mosquitoes is extremely high here in the south of the Florida (Everglades).
They do make quite a noise when they fly Gaelyn and if you are not expecting, it can give you a fright. :)
This guy looks like a si-fi character.Cool!
B.
Hello Juan. Have you had a lot of rain this year? That might account for it as they then also breed in the pools left behind.
LOL!! It would fit right in there with Yoda and the rest of them Becky. :)
Strange looking fellows, we have stick insects but not grasshoppers.
Hello Glennis. Lovely to have you visit and comment. Thank you.
Here we do have some strange insects. :)
What a funny grasshoper! That long face is really strange.
Most unusaul isn't it Mary. I wonder why it evlved like that? Guess I will never know. :)
That is the most interesting looking insect. I don't think we have anything similar here..I forgot to mention above that I did go to your student's blog and read of his volunteer work. It was very moving..
Hello Michelle. I dont think I have seen anyone post something similar from the USA but would not swear that you do not have it there too.:)
Thanks for going to Sreddy's blog. Much appreciated. :)
