Blue-striped Leafhopper (Poecilocarda cosmopolita)

Family Cicadellidae

As with all Leafhoppers, these are very small and because of this, hard to find and photograph. This one is about 5mm in body length.
They sit on broad-leaved plants and as they are great jumpers, hop away as soon as a person gets close.

Probably showing my lack of insect knowledge, but I've never heard of a leave hopper

LOL!! Does not surprise me Jonker as very few people have. They are also so small that most people will never notice them but I can assure you the plants in your garden have them on the leaves and flowers. They are a very small group of insects anyway. :)

I was excited to find such a nice colourful one Gaelyn as most of the time they are drab and dreary. :)
