Rodentia Striped Mouse (Rhabdomys pumilio)

Family Muridae
They have a body length of about 8-10cm and found in the succulent Karoo and these were seen coming out into the morning sun to warm themselves.


Although they forage alone, they live in family groups.

Amazing how often you see them "climbing" like this in the bush. I've seen it in Addo

They come up the branches like this to catch the first rays of sunshine Jonker. It was strange seeing them in the bushes when you usually find them on the ground. :)
