Three-banded Plover

They are found throughout SA in any area where there is water.
Usually they are seen as a breeding pair or in flocks of up to about 40 birds.
They eat insects, crustaceans, molluscs and worms.

  1. I used to see plovers of all kind in S.A., I cannot remember the last time I saw one now :-(

    It just does not stop raining here and I am getting a bit fed up with a waterlogged garden. Thanks goodness we are on high ground. Keep well Diane
