Natal Acraea (Acraea natalica)

Family Nymphalidae Heliconiinae
Large, with a wingspan of 55-65mm.
Foun d from Gauteng northwards and along the east coast.
 These butterflies not only have a difference between male and female, but also during the wet and dry seasons.

They prefer grassland areas.

  2. Things like that are great to observe Jonker. I am totally hooked on trying to get images of it all but I will have to live to be 200 to even make a dent in it. :)

  4. Thanks Gaelyn. I have never collected so many species of butterflies in one week as I did n St. Lucia, then I only skimmed the top few as there were a lot more which I left for next time. :)
