Garden Orb Web Spider (Argiope lobota)

Family Araneidae Argiopinae
 I found this spider in Kruger National Park in the beginning of the year. It is the first time it is recorded as see there.

  4. Dont confuse GARDEN orb spiders with GOLDEN orb spiders Jonker. They are two different species. :)

I am on holiday in Plettenberg Bay and hired a small boat to travel along a local gorge, whilst having a look around towards the end of the river I noticed a large yellow and grey spider with black and grey legs. I have taken a photo before returning to my hotel room to look it up. It is definitely same as your find in the Kruger, Joan. Are they dangerous ?
