Red-necked Francolin

Very similar to Swainson’s Francolin but with a limited range it is found in: the eastern coast from Knysna northwards.

Declining numbers due to its habitat destruction by humans.

Found in grasslands, edges of forests.

Breed during the winter months.

Food: Insects, seed, fruit and bulbs.
Info: Robert’s Birds of Southern Africa

  2. Hi Joan, brilliant images of these elusive birds. We get them here in the Free State. I hope you're enjoying your time with Gaelyn. Greetings, Jo

  3. My grandmother used to feed them in her backyard every afternoon at the same time so you knew they would be there like clockwork.
