Natal Francolin
For some reason an idiot here decided that we now have to follow the American way of naming birds and have changed this species to Spurfowl instead of Francolin!!!! Why they think we should do so beats me and a whole lot of other birders I have spoken to!!

ReplyDeleteWhen I was trying to ID one of these Franklins/Spurfowls seen at West Coast NP it was very confusing.
ReplyDeleteAs Jonker says, the whole thing is ridiculous and very confusing to everyone. I wonder who the idiot was that decided on these changes as he/she is the only one who uses it. Everyone else I speak to still uses the old names.
