A Grass-mimicking Grasshopper is very difficult to spot when they are on dried grass, so what you look for are stems which thicken unexpectedy.

The same but different

These two little grasshoppers are both the same size - 1/2 inch (5mm). They are the same species and found within a couple of feet of each other, yet they are different colours. Any ideas why?

A big OOPS!!

I have never seen such a very bright green grasshopper. He came to visit me in the office.
First he hopped around my desk.

Then decided to try out the blinds. I caught him and took him outside.

Unfortunately he hopped under the wheels of a car and became ant food. Poor thing!!
