Potter Wasp

Family Eumenidae Sp  
 Potter wasps vary in that some species make holes in the ground in which to lay their eggs and others use ready-made crevasses.

These critters scare the heck out of me! We had a nest underground in our garden a few years back. Needless to say, we left the weeds to grow there.
