Close up of a Carpenter Bee 2

There are many species of Carpenter bee found around the world and are easily recognizable by their large size.
In South Africa, there are about 36 species in this genus.

Carpenter bees tolerate higher ambient temperatures during foraging and most species are inactive in lower temperatures.

They provide better pollination service than honey bees.
