I am not at all sure about this but I think this is a lappet or tussock moth. This is the empty shell of the caterpillar.

It built is cocoon amongst the leaves and seems to have a lot of silk strands around it.

After the moth emerges, this is all that is left of it.

For some reason, I was not able to get better pictures of the moth itself but I am sure you can get and idea of what it looks like from these two photographs.

It does have nice colors in it.
