Stink bug (Pentatomidae)
(Dalsira costalis) There are about 300 on the species in SA and are mostly plant eaters. They have well developed stink glands which open on the top of the abdomen in nymphs.
Stink bugs are distinguished from other bugs by the large triangular scutellum (shield) which is longer than half the length of the abdomen.
