Needle-nose Fly (Philoliche aethiopica)

Family Tabanidae
Sorry for the awful pictures but it would not sit still long enough for me to get any decent ones. J
 Fairy large species with a 3-4cm wingspan.
 Hovers in the shade under horses and cattle causing them to become restless because of their loud noise.


Found throughout SA.
